A bit of Spring “Mid-Winter” at the Chicago Botanic Garden Orchid Show

Next month, the Chicago Botanic Garden opens with its annual Orchid Show.  10,000 amazing orchids will be on display with colors ranging the entire gamut.  There will be society orchid experts to answer any questions you might have, and the warm and inviting greenhouse even has live music on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Here’s a fact we thought was striking- it takes about 50 orchid flowers to produce one standard-sized Hawaiian lei. With attendance surpassing 1,000,000 in 2014, this year’s show is sure to be a must-see. While battling the winter doldrums, we can’t think of a more colorful and beautiful place to spend a few hours!
