Evergreen platters are indeed, ever green!

Nature-inspired themes have been a part of our lives since antiquity. Flowers, plants and leaves are consistently upheld as the epitome of beauty. So, we were intrigued when German designer Meike Harde designed a collection of plates and platters that showcased beauty in an innovative way. Harde’s “Evergreen Platters” feature pressed plants and colorful petals that are essentially frozen in time within the glass. Quite different from traditional, floral plates where flowers are painted or enameled on the top, REAL plants are embedded inside.

Visible from either side, we are privy to the fragility of nature at the exact moment of conservation Using common materials in new ways is part of what makes this collection magical; and you can be guaranteed that no two are alike!

Within this one plate, different seasons are represented. Specimens include wildflowers on their stems, leafy twigs and flower heads.

Starting independently in 2013, we can’t wait to see what else will come out of Harde’s Cologne studio doors.

Another one of Harde’s projects, “The Wooden Aquarell” uses a “wet-in-wet” method. Here, using a bit of water on the wooden surface and then, adding a dyeing agent; the colors mix automatically and leave an ombre effect with streaks and color gradients throughout. Sounds and looks super cool!
