Marc Newson tea set for Georg Jensen
Marc Newson is one of the most known and collectible designers in the world, setting world records for his Lockheed Lounge, he has also designed a jet for Fondation Cartier, backpacks for Louis Vuitton and collaborated on the design of the Apple Watch.
Georg Jensen commissioned Marc Newson to create a sterling silver tea service in October 2015, and the result is fantastic – it’s modern, pristine, elegant and timeless. The Jensen-Newson partnerships marks the first significant collaboration in 25 years (the most recent was Jensen’s collaboration with Verner Panton in 1988), and is offered in a limited edition of 10 sets.
Newson’s shapes are sculpted taking an inspiration from nature in the tradition of Jensen’s classic forms 100 years ago. The handles are responsibly sourced mammoth, the embellishment is natural rattan, and most fabulous is the sliding doors on the pot tops.The three-month production is upheld to the highest standards in Copenhagen in Jensen’s workshop by a third generation master silversmith whose grandfather worked side-by-side with the company founder.
