Portraits have treated David Hockney well, even in his later years!

At the age of 79, we’re thrilled that David Hockney has an interesting new body of work to show off. For the past two years, Hockney has been painting people who are in his life currently, providing us with an intimate view into his everyday. People in which Hockney had an interest were invited to “sit” in Hockney’s studio. All friends, family and acquaintances; Hockney continues his expertise in sharing the day-to-day nuances, personality and interaction with the viewer.

All subjects sat in the same chair and were painted against the same blue background over a period of 3 days. This all began with the portrait of his manager, the idea intrigued Hockney so much that he decided to make it an involved series.David Hockney RA: 82 Portraits and 1 Still-Life at the Royal Academy of Arts in London has this exciting exhibition July 2 – October 2, 2016. We encourage you to check out this collection and revel in the beauty that, as he nears 80, Hockney is reinventing himself with every stroke of his brush!
