This very rare English Wedgwood Basaltware Pegasus vase c. 1800 is one of their most famous larger pieces and depicts The Apotheosis of Homer.
Josiah Wedgwood’s best-known examples of the Pegasus Vase were made in black basalt and in pale blue and white jasper, an example of which Wedgewood himself presented to the British Museum in 1786.
