Fiber art has recently been a hot topic of discussion! Is it becoming a mainstream art form? Fiber art used to be relegated to the side of the fine art discussion, but with artists like Sheila Hicks blazing the contemporary art world, the conversation may have shifted. There are more museum exhibitions than ever featuring fiber art. In fact, the ICA Boston dedicated an entire show to fiber art in 2014 titled, Fiber: Sculpture 1960 – present.

We are certainly excited to see more fiber art and are waiting to see if this trend is here to stay. In addition to Sheila Hicks, who will have a show at the Hayward Gallery London this year, we are excited to watch Magdalenda Abakanowicz, Richard Tuttle and Pae White as they explore fiber in their work. To read more about the future (and past) of fiber art, here is a great article.
