Junya Watanabe’s designs are architectural, futuristic and complex all at once!

Junya Watanabe has been in the fashion industry his entire life. As the protégée of Rei Kawakubo, working as a pattern-maker, it was soon clear that he had many talents. Mr. Watanabe’s collections have hidden patterns, complex pleating systems and his idea of futuristic designs. Whether or not it’s your style, it’s not hard to appreciate Mr. Watanabe’s talents and finished creations!

Made by Japanese designer, Junya Watanabe, this origami-influenced design was presented during Paris’ Fashion Week this spring.

This structural top was influenced by the honeycombs found in nature. Mr. Watanabe designed domed hats, such as this one, spherical and lampshade-like where shapes were formed with vertical fins of material repeated around 360 degrees.
