Open now through January 2015 at The Guggenheim Museum in NYC, ZERO: Countdown to Tomorrow, 1950’s-60’s is a new exhibition showcasing the works of the experimental German artist group, ZERO. This exhibition is the first historical survey in the U.S., and highlights work by founders Heinz Mack and Otto Piene with Günther Uecker, and expands to include an international network of like minded artists including Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Yayoi Kusama, Piero Manzoni, Almir Mavignier, Jan Schoonhoven, and Jesús Rafael Soto. New definitions of painting emerged (such as monochrome, serial, smoke and fire), use of light, and several other themes are presented as this group aspired to transform and redefine art in the aftermath of World War II.
