Cloutage is a decorative technique that was created by the late Andre Sornay. The technique is when you place tiny brass nail heads along the edges of a piece of furniture. The nail heads are only decorative but add a uniquely finished look to the polished wood furniture. We installed a number of pieces of furniture that utilized this technique into a recent residence.
We also came across a very contemporary take on this technique by Carpenters Workshop artist Maarten Baas.
