In commemoration of Millennium Park’s 10th anniversary (hard to believe, right?), Jaume Plensa added a beautiful and striking new installation. “1004 Portraits” is meant to continue the story of the 1,000 local citizen’s whose faces grace the Crown Fountain. Awilda is made of resin and is the largest ,standing alone at 38 feet. Paula, Laura and Ines are a stately 18 feet tall and made from cast iron, standing together. There’s a dreamlike quality to these “girls” whose angular faces will stand guard at our city’s most famous park through 2015. They’ll surely be beautiful with snow adoring them; but if cold isn’t your thing, come see them during the fall when you sightsee through our art-filled hometown!
