There are three major art fairs this spring that we are keeping a close eye on.
First, there is the SP-Arte 2014 in Sao Paulo. SP-Arte, Brazil’s largest fair, begins tomorrow and continues through April 6th. Big name galleries such as White Cube, Pace and David Zwirner are all attending this fair in hopes of capturing the Latin American buyer. You can expect contemporary and master works from international and Latin American artists, such as Guillermo Kuitca, Diego Rivera, and Wifredo Lam.
For those of you looking for an art fair a bit closer to home, Frieze Art Fair in New York City is scheduled for May 8-12th. Many argue that Frieze has become a more important fair for contemporary art than the Armory Show. You will certainly experience both cutting edge and blue chip contemporary at this fair featuring over 190 galleries. Frieze is located on Randall Island, please check here for transportation information.
Lastly, but certainly not least, Art Basel Hong Kong will take place between May 15th and 18th. With over half of the participating galleries coming from Asia and Asia Pacific, there is guaranteed to be a local flair to this fair. Many Asian artists as well as blue chip contemporary artists will be represented.
