Over 60 pieces from Edwin and Lindy Bergman’s personal collection went to auction this week at Christies’ Post-War and Contemporary Art Auction. The Chicago couple became avid art collectors after taking an art class at The University of Chicago in the 1950’s. Their first considerable piece was a Paul Klee gouache; from then onward, they became passionate Surrealist collectors. In promotional materials, Christie’s announced that the Bergman’s collection was “one of the most outstanding private collections to come to auction in recent history”.
