Mark your calendars for December 1st as this is when the Louvre Abu Dhabi opens. Encompassing a very wide range of items, this museum will display everything from Modern and Contemporary art to archaeology. To get it’s collection “off the ground”, France’s leading museums will lend 300 works until the museums’s personal collection grows enough. 500 works have already been secured! Even though work from around the world will be showcased at the museum, with particular focus placed upon bridging the gap between Eastern and Western Art.
Designed by the legendary Jean Nouvel, this “floating” dome-topped building allows sun to filter through the web-patterned top. Located within Saadiyat Island’s Cultural District, this location will be a cultural paradise. Along with the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Guggenheim intends to open a contemporary art museum to be designed by Zaha Hadid and a maritime museum is in the works with Tado Ando as the architect for that, sure to be, masterpiece.
