“Dissolving” church is called “Reading Between the Lines” for good reason!

Houses of worship in Europe typically have a traditional feel. Not this one! “Reading Between the Lines” is a “see-through” church, the ambitious project of two young Belgian architects. The architects’ intent was to make a statement about the way Belgians view religion in today’s age. Declining attendance has left many of the country’s little parish churches abandoned; the hope was to reuse the buildings for art.

Installed in 2011 and standing 33-feet high, the structure is accessible only by bicycle. No official worship happens inside, but visitors can enter freely and use the structure for whatever best suits their needs!
