Roinestad’s elegant vessels are inspired by whitewashed desert landscape

Resembling water jugs that look as though they were discovered in Pompeii, Eric Roinestad’s vessels are both elegant and organic in shape, feel and size. Using Southern California’s natural dessert landscape with elements from his Scandinavian heritage for inspiration, Eric Roinestad manages to create the most unique objects. Roinestad’s technique is unique in that he gives his vessels a flat wash before firing them. Thereafter, the pieces get sanded to allow some of the clay to show through the glaze. The creamy, whitewashed, smooth, matte surfaces are ALL created by hand – there’s no casting here.

We love how the modern is perfectly melded with the organic to create this beautiful object!

Ranging from 14″-20″, this collection is a far cry from Roinestad’s initial work as an artist who created cover art  and posters for records and movie. Here, the ancient and modern are perfectly synched!
