Last weekend we took a trip to Hudson, New York, where we sponsored an art tour called Farm to Frame. The tour in conjunction with Scenic Hudson raises awareness about the vibrant art community in the Hudson River Valley, while raising money for the Scenic Hudson land bank. We sponsored four events, two in the spring and two this fall. Luckily we got to attend the event last weekend and see for ourselves what a wonderful experience Dorit Straus had put together.
The tour started at the Re Institute, an old dairy farm, converted to artist studio and exhibition space. Henry Klimowicz purchased the farm a number of years ago and transformed it into a modern artist’s oasis. His studios are on the ground floor, then the exhibition space and his apartment is above. The forty acre working farm is utilized by a CSA program. No space goes un-used. There were six artists showing their work while we were there. Our favorite of which was Sara Nesbitt.
After touring the studio and gallery space we sat down to a fantastic lunch. All the vegetables were grown on the property! It was outstanding!!
