Gerhard Richter is one of the most well regarded living artists. He has evolved his craft over the years, favoring abstractions through the use of a squeegee! Pictured above. Marian Goodman Gallery held the artist’s ninth solo exhibition in New York in 2012. The series that was exhibited was called Strip Paintings. Richter took a pixel wide wedge from one of his paintings and reproduced it numerous times in photoshop. The stripes make optical elusions on the printed artworks. These works are a new form of abstraction for Richter, yet still originate from his painted works. They are some of our favorite pieces by the artist, as they blur the line between painting and photography. To learn more, read this Fast Company Article.
