Gilded lamps take shape from aristocratic upbringing

Sisters Isabel and Stella Tennant have had a gilded upbringing, to say the least.  With a grandfather who held the title of Duke of Devonshire, the sisters are quite used to lavish surroundings; for example, the 297-room Chatsworth is a family home.  It’s no surprise that their brand-new venture has to do with gilding aged wood.  Envisioning a lamp, the sisters enlisted a local carpenter to make these beautiful wooden bases which they then aptly decorated.  Stella got the inspiration from the gilded lines on weathered mahogany and Isabel used her decorative arts background to bring the vision to perfection.

It isn’t ironic that their first collection was titled, “Gilded Pleasures” and of course, their uncle (current Duke of Devonshire) bought one of these gorgeous pieces for his humble Chatsworth abode.
