Important ceramic finds while in San Francisco for the FOG Art & Design Fair

Vaea at Foster Gwin in San Francisco

We are in San Francisco for FOG and visited a few of our favorite dealers before the show opened! We were thrilled to find the incredible ceramic piece by Vaea that Coiller at Foster Gwin has in his shop! The strength of mass and composition is absolutely excellent in every way!

At FOG we were struck by the elegance of a couple of large pieces by Suzanne Ramie. She created Madoura, and when Picasso wanted to try his hand at ceramics, he reached out to her for his education and production. The golden vessel is just spectacular in form and glaze. The pair of vessels that stand in unison are strong in mass and texture, and have organic spinal character that gives the sense that the two vessel were once joined in structure. Absolutely marvelous!!

And certainly worth noting are the works by Adam Silverman of Heath Ceramics fame showing at Friedman Benda. His glaze work is second to none! And shown with a powerful bronze by Wendall Castle, they are quite stunning as a collection.

Finally, we are thrilled that Jason Jacques is featuring Katsuyo Aoki, her work at the Museum of Art and Design in New York concurrently is spectacular!

San Francisco! Great show!!
