Indigenous materials make up striking Javier Marin masterpiece

Mexican architect Javier Marin recently finished up his newest masterpiece.  In Yucatan, he managed to create a house using simple materials.  For example, the house is assembled “like Legos” using poured cement that were individually molded off site and then transported via truck piece-by-piece.  There is no window glass but rather mosquito netting.  There isn’t air-conditioning because the water surrounding the area will act as a natural coolant.  And, nothing is painted.  “I wanted it raw and exposed.  It can age with time and the weather,” Marin says.  We couldn’t agree more!
