Earlier this year, Chicago artist Judy Ledgerwood created site-specific wall paintings at the Madlener House. This historic home (which now houses the Graham Foundation) was transformed into a vibrant, pulsating space intended to startle the viewer. The entire first floor of the Madlener House was enveloped in metallic floral motifs and hot, fluorescent colors. This 1902 Prairie-Style house was completely transformed as Ledgerwood engulfed the viewer and succeeded in confusing perceptions of both scale and space. Makes us think of “Alice in Wonderland”….
