We loved Hostler Burrow’s booth when we saw them at Design Basel, and were thrilled to see more excellent work at their EXPO booth! In fact, both R20 and Hostler Burrows brought fantastic design and the pinnacle of craft that really helped round out and complement the superb art at this year’s EXPO. We, of course, were thrilled to see our colleagues from both the design and art worlds come together.

One highlight of Hostler Burrow’s booth was the work of Finnish ceramicist Kristina Riska. The grandly scaled earthenware had a fragility that was poetic, evoking inspiration from nature, the human body and architecture. Riska says that her process is a foray in to the unknown, she also establishes a non-physical “internal space”…a repository of quietude, serenity, concentration, and also a very specific memory of the interplay of light and shade cast upon her from the bars of her childhood cot. Enjoy these wonderful pieces!!
