Over the past few weeks we have been discussing things we have found on a recent trip to Bali. We were thrilled to have found a spectacular trove of Lawon batiks belonging to art dealer and historian Susi Johnston! The clarity of the graphic use of color in these textiles lends a very contemporary feel to any room. We have used these batiks as pairs on either side of a doorway in the past to great effect. We look forward to cleaning, conserving and mounting a few of these textiles below for a contemporary home we are just completing in Miami!! The horizontal ones make for a beautiful expression of color above a bed in a guest bedroom.
