Vitor Schietti spent years researching long exposure photography and the use of ND (neutral density) filters to perfect shooting the balance between the fading twilight and the brightness of fireworks. In order to get it “perfect”, up to 12 shots are combined in a single image. Since sunlight fades quickly, a limited number of attempts were possible each day, thus, the series took quite a bit of time to complete.
Shietti’s “Impermanent Sculptures” were also made possibly by manually waving fireworks… perfecting the balance of so many different effects was surely tough; but something that the Brazilian photographer has gotten “down to a science”!
