MET Exhibit shows how Chinese art has influenced global couture throughout modern times!

Now through August 16th, the MET is presenting a wonderful exhibit titled, “China: Through the Looking Glass”. This show contrasts global couture with classic Chinese art and shows the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion. Since the days when European explorers sailed to the Far East in search of unique spices and beautiful silks, intrigue has been high with regards to China.

As such, it’s great that the MET has decided to put on such a interesting exhibit. More than 140 examples of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear pieces alongside Chinese art are presented. Lose yourself in time as you meander through the displays. To quote The Washington Post, “…the exhibition…offers a thoughtful, expressive, and…utterly breathtaking exploration of China.” Don’t miss it!
