“Create your Tile” was a competition run by the Italian company, Ceramiche Refin, in order to create new inspirations in ceramics. Interior designers, Alessandro and Francesco Mendini entered with their idea of a traditional orthogonal grid and created an entire new collection titled “Filo”. Thin lines weave through one another forming a unique geometric pattern. This, in turn, creates a three-dimensional optical illusion. Four color palettes are offered and the optical result calls attention to the floor as it’s being “walked all over”.
