I was absolutely delighted to share a conversation and Master Class with Barbara Sallick for her wonderful new book The Perfect Bath. Her company, Waterworks, has set the tone for the luxury bath market for several decades now, and Barbara’s exquisite taste is certainly a large dose of the magic behind the brand. I was also thrilled to see that Barbara had dedicated the book to Peter Sallick, her son, who deserves the lions share of the credit for the growth of Waterworks as an internationally recognized exceptional brand.
The Perfect Bath is a long awaited survey of some of the most spectacular baths created by designers and architects today. The professional guidance Barbara shares in her Master Classes with seven architects across the country, gathers a glossary of the creative process. I am honored to have been included to include a Master Class with this well-curated group. We discuss proportion and scale, designing with color, creating environments that fit within the larger context of the home, expressing quality as these are areas that are used and touched everyday, considering the experience and the view, and the use of fine art within these spaces. Barbara’s book is exactly as she intended as it is a bible of sorts that expresses many ideas and is a resource one will go back to reference many times in the future.
