Rather than advertise on the scaffolding of one of Paris’ most historic buildings, the Pantheon, city officials approached internationally known photographer (and former graffiti artist) JR to put together an enormous installation. JR came up with the idea of collecting “selfies” with the help of a roving studio built into a van and online submissions. The result was a cumulation of 4,160 B&W smiling faces pieced together meant to overwhelm the audience. The installation can be seen on the dome, cupola and floor of the Pantheon through October 5th.
