To the “naked eye” (no pun intended), mannequins are… well, mannequins. But Ralph Pucci declares that mannequins are “an art form- it’s sculpture”. This iconic designer has a “creative lab” where mannequins come to be repaired. Pucci has collaborated with other famous designers to transform the look to a statuesque model. Through August 30th, Pucci’s abstract mannequins are on exhibit at the MAD Museum. Titled, Ralph Pucci: The Art of the Mannequin, this show displays 30 mannequins from the past 30 years. More of an art form than a mannequin, Pucci is indeed “capturing moments in time”.
An assortment of the mannequins at Pucci’s exhibition. For example, the one in a yoga pose is indeed Christy Turlington at the time the “yoga craze” first appeared.
