Within the Tchoban Foundation Museum for Architectural Drawings, treasures abound. The wide-ranging collection of prized drawings are held within this 5,360-square-foot museum build in Berlin’s Prenlauer Berg Art District. A former factory complex, unique proportions came into play when the task for designing this building ensued. Five blocks cast in concrete appear stacked in a slightly offset manner. Each block is sketched with a different architectural motif which was lifted from historic sketches, enlarged and repeated!
Opened in the summer of 2013, exhibitions will be rotated with the intent of allowing the general public to fully appreciate the art form of architectural drawings!
Designed by Russian architects Sergey Kuznetsov and Sergei Tchoban, this amazing building is capped off by a “glass box” which houses offices.

Notice that the architectural details differ completely from cube to cube. One of the two architects, Tchoban, is is a leading architectural drawer himself. Tchoban collects outstanding drawings made by architects from the 16th-21st century with a focus on Russian Constructivists. Some of his collection can be seen at the museum.

Sharing a wall with a four-story historical residential building, this narrow and vertical structure is just as stunning when viewed from the bottom up!

Hand-carved paneling is affixed to the interior walls. Both the design and warm color add warmth to the modern building designed by Speech Tchoban & Kuznetsov from Russia.
