Retaining a slice of history while modernizing Singapore shophouse

History from the 1940’s was kept relatively intact as the architectural firm of WOHA reconstructed the original design of two remaining shophouses in Singapore.  Previously deemed beyond repair due to structural problems and set for demolition, the local conservation authority restored the facade and added a contemporary wing to the rear of the building.  Now boasting an interior cafe and park, there’s really no reason to ever want to leave!
