Anyone who has visited Barcelona has probably been to La Sagrada Familia. The Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is one of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous masterpieces. This amazing structure by the Spanish architect is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Construction for the building began in 1882; a year later, Gaudi took over as chief architect. Since the project relied on private donations, the progression was very slow.

Sagrada Familia has been the inspiration to so many people and ideas. Recently, Cornet Barcelona designed a collection of elegant and unique wine glasses that draw inspiration from the sun’s rays as they filter into the basilica.

The inspiration for these sophisticated glasses came from the founder, Albert Grimaldo. Grimaldo’s belief is that people require beautiful things because they invoke good feelings and happiness. His company, Cornet Barcelona, was founded with these principles.

Small moments, he believes, are just as important as big moments…and they are necessary to each person’s being and outlook on life. Courtesy of the website, “Take each day and share it with others. Make the moments count. Spend more time engaging in the activities that bring you joy. Laugh more. Smile a lot. And fully appreciate all that you have.”

It did not take a lot of time to come upon Sagrada Familia Basilica’s stained glass windows as inspiration. As sun rays stream in through the stained glass windows, the colors inside change and become awe-inspiring. The beauty is indescribable!

As a practicing church, the basilica is a place meant to bring “peace, generosity, love, and harmony” to everyone who steps foot inside. Inside, Gaudi’s brilliance is at it’s best and the fine craftsmanship presents positive energy to visitors. So Cornet Barcelona thought: “Why not share this feeling with the world?”

The company’s headquarters is located in Barcelona’s center… quite close to the basilica which allowed for many hours of introspection on site. Studying the masterpiece from every angle, Cornet Barcelona was able to capture the rich colors to a tee.

Inside the workshop, traditional and old-world mouth-blowing glass making techniques were used to create these glasses. Making sure to adhere to the company’s strict requirements, the glass is heated to temperatures between 1,600 and 1,900 Fahrenheit. Once the desired temperature is reached, the glass glows a bright orange color. At this point, artisans shape the molten glass into delicate forms and then, the glass is cooled in a special furnace.

The final stage occurs when the team of master artists use a stunning color palette to transform the pieces into one-of-a-kind, art-quality glassware. In a company where the values are: honesty, excellence, passion, respect, kindness, love, and integrity, Grimaldo has managed to produce a collection of stunning glassware to help ensue even more positive experiences. Thank you so much!
