Scholten & Baijings for Maharam

Blocks by Scholten & Baijings, an upholstered sofa showing the dynamism of the pattern.

Scholten & Baijings is a husband and wife team living in Amsterdam. They are set apart by their bold use of color, especially in Amsterdam, which has a rather muted design scene. The couple has created a number of products including furniture, products and fabrics.

Now they have teamed up with Maharam, a 4th generation family-run business who first brought the aesthetic of Modern painting to textiles and offered it commercially. The partnership has resulted in a selection of bold fabrics. Geometry plays an important role in the designs, creating large and dynamic patterns. The scale of the repeat creates fantastic plays on pattern when it has been used for upholstery.

Grid in Red created in 2013

Grid in Beige is made of 92% wool 8% nylon.
