Soleri Bridge brings additional beauty to desert city

Renowned architect, Paolo Soleri, spent 60 years drawing up proposals for bridges.  A student of Frank Lloyd Wright, Soleri viewed bridges as “architecture and ecology equals “arcology”.  In other words, people and the landscape around them are inseparable.  His 20 ft. stainless steel suspension pedestrian bridge sit on a minimalist plaza.  An ingenious sundial displays the time if you get lost in the surrounding beauty.  Sadly though, this Arizona native didn’t get long to enjoy his 20 year-long labor of love.  We will be sure to think of him when the large-scale version of his signature wind bells ring.
