Terracotta Daughters begin world tour before 15 year burial

French artist Prune Nourry replicated the Terracotta Soilders of ancient times to create an awe-inspiring instillation of 116 life sized, semi-identical sculptures.  Working with Chinese master craftsman Wen Xianfeng, the project grew in scope from the hopes that it will inspire dialog  regarding the countries controversial gender selection practices.  Initially displayed in Shanghai’s Gallery Magda Danysz, the large-scale exhibition is now finishing up a long run in Paris and plans to travel worldwide before returning to China in 2015 where the entire army of girls will be buried until unearthed in 2030.
