Travertine Terraces

We use Travertine fairly frequently in our projects, and had to share the beauty of it in its natural element. Travertine is a form of limestone often formed from chemical reactions with water from natural hot springs. Over time, these deposits create some of the most gorgeous vistas to be seen. We wanted to take a look at a few of them.

The Travertine Terraces at Pamukkale, Turkey have been named a World Heritage Site. The travertine at these terraces is usually a bright white.

These are the Huanglong Travertine Terrace in China. The travertine ends up a golden color, giving it the nickname “Dragon” from locals.

The terraces at Badab-e Surt in Iran contain iron oxide, giving them a red or orange hue. The range of colors makes the terraces very unique.
