We are infatuated with this puppeteer

Brooklyn-based, British-born Julian Crouch has a very unique profession. In a world of digital advances, he is an authentic, old-school puppeteer. Initially, Crouch was solely a mask and puppet maker; lucky for us, his talents have caught the eyes of Broadway producers and now he is designing entire sets.

A more interesting profession would be hard to come by; but Julian’s creations are nothing if not extraordinary and eerily lifelike!

These are designs from films by Philip Haas (Angels and Insects) commissioned by the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas based on the painting by James Ensor.

Mr. Crouch with Mr. Punch… initially a mask maker, making puppets came as a natural progression.
