As many of you may know the Whitney museum in New York puts together a show every two years called the Whitney Biennial. It is heralded for finding emerging artists and bringing them into the contemporary art lexicon. This year, we are very excited because our hometown Chicago is getting a front seat in the show. There are three curators of the show this year and one of them, Michelle Grabner, is a professor of painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Not only are we excited to see her curatorial perspective; we are also thrilled to learn about her wonderful work.

Continuing the focus on Chicago for the Biennial this year, there are fourteen Chicago artists that are going to be exhibited. Some of our favorites include: Taisha Paggett, a young dance artist working to bridge the gap between performance and visual art, Catherine Sullivan, who creates video art through stitching film clips together, and Tony Tasset. Tony Tasset is a funky artist who is not afraid to have fun with his works of art. Check them out below!
