Why wouldn’t you always use something beautiful?

We were drawn to this story because of the great connection between social media and design; so we just had to share…

Ivy Mix, an extremely accomplished NYC mixologist and successful bar owner, recently launched a line of beautiful barware which she created in conjunction with her glassblower father who resides in rural Vermont. Mix says, “I grew up in a household where everything I got to drink out of was very, very beautiful.” She wanted something other than the boring, traditional vessels that everyone in the industry uses… something that she knew her father could whip up.

Here’s the part of the story we especially loved… Super excited with the prototype, Mix snapped a photo and uploaded it to Instagram. The response was overwhelming with requests from across the country.

One thing that Mix stresses is that not only are her father’s pieces beautiful, they’re also 100% functional because without that, they’re useless. As she says, “it’s a win-win”. We think so too!

The handmade mixing glasses come in a variety of colors and stand 6.5 inches tall.

This gorgeous punch bowl is 11.5 inches in diameter and 7.5 inches in height. This specific 1 3/4 gallon punch bowl is black cane with a red rim, but it’s available in a plethora of other colors. Hand-blown with Venetian style cane color decoration, each piece is signed and dated. For a small additional fee, pieces can be personally inscribed.

Master glassblower, Robin Mix, was one of the first American glassblowers to make and use murrini. Murrini principles were practiced in Pompeii and have a 1,000-year history that Mr. Mix strives to honor.
