Woven wood is the exterior for amazing new Aspen Art Museum!

It was natural light that was desired… and achieved within Aspen’s Art Museum, designed by Pritzker award winter Shigeru Ban.  The architecture had to feature the amazing Rocky Mountains, which are the backdrop for this newly opened Aspen museum (August 2014).  33,000 square feet is plenty of gallery space and the woven wood allows for natural light to “play tricks” on the beautiful artwork.  A piece might look completely different at 9 AM than at 3:30 in the afternoon, and that was part of the plan! Architecture like this makes you feel like there’s as much to be seen by the building’s design as by the actual pieces within!
