An Elegant Dining Room & Kitchen: “Before & After”
The transformation from a 1950’s building with pink interior curved walls to sophisticated jewel box on Fifth Avenue was quite a journey! With an inspired client excited about the opportunities, we launched into the dream: a perfect pied-à-terre with a strong architectural materials palette of high sheen black lacquer provides the anchor to the white walls waiting a newly-inspired contemporary photography collection.
The Dining Room with grey wool walls serves as the intimate daily hub within the apartment. It then converts seamlessly to accommodate 14 for dinner at a yellow glass and bronze table custom designed by Suzanne Lovell Inc. The high sheen black lacquer doors and portals express the strength that supports the expansive view of Olmsted’s Central Park.
Abelardo Morell’s photograph from Central Park South is a perfect pairing with the room and the view. The mirrored dry bar adds the impact needed to handle the expressions of “Wow!!” when one takes in the apartment and location.
Beyond the pair of black lacquer pocket doors is the intensely functional Galley Kitchen that transforms this lovely apartment into an entertaining machine.
