Rick Owens branched out into interior design as a continuation of his aesthetic. The famous fashion designer wasn’t looking for accolades when he began this ambitious endeavor. Since 2007, Owens, along with his wife and creative partner, Michele Lamy, have been designing angular and highly durable furniture pieces.

What more needs to be said… Owens’ nearly 2-ton bedroom set which consists of a bed and daybed will certainly and morbidly outlive it’s owner. Resembling something you might find in a German bunker and are made from materials such as Carrara marble, rocks and plywood, these “anti-cozy” designs are on exhibit at MOCA (now through April 2, 2017)…..”Comfort isn’t everything”, says Owens.

The “Half Box” is a chair, we think. Designed in 2011 from alabaster and from a collection of only 8 pieces, the dimension are: 50 (length), 50 (width) and 77 (height).

Designed in 2012 and from a collection of 12, this black plywood “lounge” measures 35.4 x 137.8 x 35.4 inches.

This white marble chair is a work of art. This uber-contemporary piece is from another limited edition of 12 with dimensions of: 26 x 32.7 x 23.6 inches.

The power couple of Rick Owens and Michele Lamy doesn’t let the 17-year age difference stop them… Lamy was quoted as saying something to the effect of… We didn’t get married to have children, our creations are our children. Well, they’re beautiful!
