Congratulations! Zolla Lieberman Gallery celebrates 40 years

Images courtesy of Suzanne Lovell, Inc. Photography by Keri Wiginton.

In 1976 Zolla/Lieberman Gallery moved to a converted loft space in a then desolate industrial neighborhood and founded the area that is now known as the River North Gallery District. It was in that inaugural year that Zolla/Lieberman Gallery gave a solo show to an unknown artist named Deborah Butterfield.

2016 marks the 40th anniversary of Zolla Lieberman Gallery, a celebration that is near and dear to our hearts. Suzanne had a very special relationship with Roberta Lieberman, and his son (now owner) William Lieberman for many years. One of the most special memories with William was our dinner with the fantastic Deborah Butterfield, her wonderfully talented artist husband John Buck, and their son.

Enjoy these photos of Suzanne with William Lieberman, energized about the acclaimed work of artist couple Deborah Butterfield and John Buck at EXPO Chicago 2015.

John Buck works so successfully across mediums, from carved wood, assemblage and bronze sculptures to large and multicolored woodblock prints. Above: John BuckDown Stares, 2008.

In addition to major museum collections worldwide, Ms. Butterfield’s work has appeared at auction. Here, a fantastic piece from a Private Collection.
