Dinosaur Designs is the brainchild of Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy. This Australian duo has cornered the market on unique, one-of-a-kind tablescapes that are more art than functional tablewares.

What makes these items unique and so beautiful is that they are made of a combination of resin and precious metals. Dinosaur Design’s organic shapes and bold colors make them so esthetically appealing that you’ll want every combination ever designed.

The “Forest Collection” debuted last year and introduced a new color. This collection perfectly explores the balance between architecture and nature. The silver accents are added to highlight the beautiful swirls of resin castings.

We absolutely love the colors and dimensions… stunning!

Similar to “Forest”, the “Folliage Collection” explores the beauty of plants. There’s so much to a leaf, for example… the membranes, the branches, and the stems. Beautiful is the way the designers were able to portray the leaf membranes in translucent resin and the branches in soft gold. The colors are fresh with shades of mint green, navy blue and warm reds and golds. White makes an appearance also, further accentuating the boldness of the other colors on display.

Walking through the doors of Dinosaur Design’s studio feels like an explosion of color. It’s been more than 30 years that this couple has worked together, experimenting with resin to explore color and form.

Olsen and Ormandy carry their sketchbooks everywhere they go, never knowing when an inspiration will happen. Prototypes are then produced from wax or clay; and the resin is molded in casts and left to be hand-sanded and hand-polished.

Completely in-house, lots of hands touch the products and thus, every piece is influenced by many personalities!

After working with resin for more than 30 years, the couple feel as though they may have finally mastered it’s elements. Depending on environmental conditions, the resin might shrink at a different rate depending on, for example, humidity.

You know they mean it when they say that they love designing. Hoping to expand into textiles in the near future, it seems like the “sky’s the limit” for Dinosaur Designs!
