Gio Ponti’s quintessential chairs

We love Gio Ponti’s chairs; so much so, that we wanted to feature a couple of our favorite designs.  It’s important to remember that Mr. Ponti is considered one of the most important Italian architects, artists and furniture designers of the 20th century.  You certainly get a sense of his appreciation for simplicity when you see his designs.  And not surprisingly, as an architect, Mr. Ponti valued space and functionality.  At a time when the Industrial Revolution changed the way furniture was manufactured, Ponti taught us that you can still get quality and uniqueness from pieces that aren’t handcrafted.  We especially love the way his furniture meets the ground in a way that is elegant and slender, yet the strong angular forms feel strong.  His work looks so contemporary today!
