A cutting-edge Czech-based manufacturer of beautiful glass, LASVIT’s designs are works of art. LASVIT was founded by Leon Jakimic in 2007 and in a few short years, it has established itself as an authority on designing and producing bespoke lighting sculptures and hand-blown glass art installations.

The Neverending Glory Collection is comprised of a series of pendants based upon chandeliers found inside five of the world’s most important theaters: La Scala in Milan, the Palais Garnier in Paris, the Estate Theater in Prague, The Metropolitan Opera in New York City, and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.

In order to ensure that the pieces fit effortlessly inside contemporary interiors, each piece has been scaled-back. Designer Henry Wielgus said about the collection, “The idea of Neverending Glory collection came to us when we realised how many amazing old crystal chandeliers there are, and that it would be beautiful to bring them to a contemporary form and into modern homes.”

Even within the Czech Republic, the area of Bohemia is especially well known for glasswork. Local craftspeople from the region work alongside LASVIT designers to create each pendant. Designers sketch the shape of the original chandelier while rotating it in order to blur the details so that they can create a smooth edge.

LASVIT is able to design with such innovation because they seamlessly combine the authenticity of glass with new technologies and creative craftsmanship. When creating the Neverending Glory Collection, size was a big factor. The team said that the designs border on the edge of what is possible to do with human hands. Much larger and they would not be able to achieve such mastery and precision. To try to produce with such a large piece of glass is extremely demanding, and making something bigger is not possible.

LASVIT created this beautiful glass sculpture, “Dancing Leaves” for the main lobby of the Paris Peninsula Hotel. Designed by Ludek Hroch, this glass art installation is made up of 800 hand-blown sycamore leaves. To add to the complexity, some leaves are clear and some have silver on the inside. This evokes the feeling a windy day full of spinning and floating sycamore leaves. The weightlessness in the air is meant to give us a feeling of peace and serenity.

Yet another masterpiece!
