Le Parc’s 1974 panels are the latest to end up as Hermes scarves!

Argentinean-born and French-based optic artist Julio Le Parc is the latest to have created a limited edition line of iconic Hermès scarves. “La Longue Marche” come from Le Parc’s 1974-1975 collection of 10 design series; each series in 6 color combinations. With extensive research, Le Parc experimented with the permutations of the 14 colors of the prism, seeking to “create art of exactitude rather than something reflecting [his] creative personality.” That, coupled with Le Parc’s fascination with geometry and optical illusion made the 60 pieces all the more unique.

Tracking down Le Parc in Paris, Hermès‘ creative director (and grandfather to Hermès‘ founder), Pierre-Alexis Dumas felt a “calling” to transpose this collection after seeing a solo show for Le Parc at the Palais de Tokyo two years ago.

Surely we can all agree that Le Parc’s pieces are a wonderful addition to previous Hermès collaborations. Whether you see them as ribbons or electric currents, Le Parc’s colorful collection will certainly brighten anyone’s attire… or wall!
