Suzanne recently went to see Hamilton in New York City and loved it so much we were inspired to write a post. Lin-Manuel Miranda is the man behind the genius story that combines hip-hop with the tale of our founding fathers. He told Vogue that he was “chilling in Mexico” reading a book about Alexander Hamilton when he was inspired. He could not believe that there was no Hip-Hop version of the story of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton’s journey to becoming George Washington’s right hand man was too similar to the stories of many immigrants in the US today. Manuel had to tell the story of the founding of this country through the language of today, Hip-Hop.

Lin-Manuel Miranda worked on the show for many years, debuting the first song, that took him a year to write, to the White House in 2009. The show finally opened in August 2015 and is so popular that they are still having 8 sold out shows per week! If you have not seen Hamilton, we recommend it!
