London Travel

After our recent trip to London for another whirlwind hunt for art and antiques, we decided to share some of our favorite haunts! Please enjoy and check back as we share more advise about our favorite destinations.

WHERE TO STAY:

Plan to stay at The Connaught (Carlos Place) the Mayfair District for a true experience.  Among its many accolades, this historic hotel was voted Best UK Hotel 2013.  Seamlessly blending traditional and contemporary designs, just one of the many highlights is the beautiful Zen garden towards the back of the hotel.  Make sure to mention whether you desire a classic or more contemporary room when booking!

WHERE TO EAT:

Take a very short stroll to Scott’s (20 Mount Street) for amazing, fresh seafood.  An elegant oyster and Champagne bar await you, as well as an amazing Lobster dish if you choose to peruse their a la carte menu.  If you so desire and the weather cooperates, sit outside and people-watch.

 WHERE TO SHOP:

Among other treasures, make sure to stop at Solange Azagury-Patridge (5 Carlos Place).  The storefront’s interior walls are covered with a deep red fabric and embedded with 630,000 Swarovski crystals.  Solange’s handmade designs incorporate gold and precious gemstones… you’ll want everything in sight!  “Creativity abounds!”

To shop like the Royal Family shops, visit Thomas Goode (17-22 South Audley St.).  Truly considered the ultimate shopping experience for household goods such as china, glassware and silver.  In existence for almost 200 years, this store holds two coveted “Royal Warrants”.  Both selection and service are bound to be extraordinary!

And if you still have some steam, charge ahead to Loewe (125 Mount Street) for luxurious leather goods.  Set in a 19th Century building in Mayfair, this boutique has a contemporary and inviting feel.  In case you need to morally justify your purchase, this company strives for social and environmental responsibility with the material and production of their beautiful products.  “This is the softest, strongest and best bag I have had in a long time!”
