Montana Labelle Design & Lifestyle is the design and lifestyle firm that Montana Labelle founded ten years ago. The brand has two completely separate facets. During the daytime hours, the brand is a full-service residential and commercial interior design studio while at night, Montana Labelle Design & Lifestyle is a lifestyle shop that offers everything from custom furnishings to curated pieces including art, hardware, lighting, and ceramics.

With a design style that is made up of a neutral color palette and a lot of black and white, Labelle says the foundation’s style is essentially a “lived-in modern” aesthetic. She continues (courtesy of Nuvo), “Often when people think of modern, they think of a black-and-white sterile box. We believe you can mix modern with collected textural pieces to really create a warm, lived-in space.”

Mixing the contemporary with the vintage is behind how Labelle creates timeless designs. Based in Toronto, the company wants to be accessible and available to all those that are looking to create inviting spaces with chic accessories.

Stone pieces from the Lucas Collection are only available in neutral tones. The collection consists of bowls, catchalls, and hooks made from earthy black-and-brown marble.

In 2019, Labelle opened up a bricks-and-mortar location in Toronto’s Annex neighborhood. Inside, one-of-a-kind pieces and vintage furniture are beautifully curated. The shop mainly includes Labelle’s own product line of ceramics and marble home accessories. In addition, there are items that are sourced from Labelle’s worldwide travels.

Nothing is ever stagnant… Labelle ensures that her designs are constantly evolving and developing. As for her own style, Labelle characterizes it as “cozy modern.” Specifically, she told Storeys “There is a minimalist aspect, but it is lived in and comfortable. Not so cold.”

Known for her black and white color scheme, closer inspection reveals variants of subtle gradations and a mix of textures and rich materials that liven up a normally natural palette. As a marble lover, Labelle always includes some of her favorite material to the mix… however like everything else, it is always found in moderation.

The firm’s studio serves double duty as a retail space and an office space for the talented team. The full-service residential and commercial interior design atelier is committed to creating spaces that are a reflection of the people and companies that occupy them.

The commitment to artistry and detail is the company’s number one priority. As such, the boutique firm is adamant about taking on only a limited number of projects each year… however, no project is too small or too large. The firm’s holistic approach has served the studio well; we have no doubt that we will continue to see innovative design emerge from Montana Labelle Design & Lifestyle!
